Background

Having first been published in 2001 as a corporate project, the magazine "SFERA" was conceived as an alternative to the few in number Russian titles in meat-processing industry. It was the first attempt to bring into industry titles not only information for experts, but also news and analytics with relevant at the time cover theme. The magazine was focused on directors, top managers, marketing managers, chief process engineers of enterprises, and the readership expanded and included institutes, universities.

Many young experts working in food industry remember and love "SFERA" magazines, which helped them in their studies and are helping them now in the difficult process of joining the trade.

At present time the Publishing House "SFERA" publishes magazines "Meat SFERA" (since 2001), "Dairy SFERA", "Confectionery SFERA/Bakery" (since 2004). From the beginning of 2010, the new title "Meat SFERA/POULTRY INDUSTRY" was launched, being an appendix to the magazine "Meat SFERA".

The concept

In 2001 the beginning of work on the issue of the magazine for experts of food-processing industry was rather risky. On order to be interesting and to differ from others, we had to come up with an original concept, to create our own image. It was then that we decided, that our magazine will be "live". It will include stories of successful businesses, answers of experts to questions which concern specialists, dialogues and discussions. And, certainly, materials on technologies, finance, logistics, so necessary for workers of various food industries. And all this will be served in high-quality "package" — we entrust only high-class experts with design of our magazines.

Readership

Our magazines are read by top-managers of food-processing industry enterprises — general directors, deputy directors, heads of departments, chief process engineers and chief engineers. They are energetic, purposeful managers who aspire to stay informed on events in the market and to receive information as much as possible useful for activity of the company. They understand the need of constant improvement of their business and feel the urge for information about new technologies and equipment.

At the moment top-managers compose 80% of subscriber list. The balance is formed by process engineers, managers of departments of sales, purchases, marketing.

Content

"SFERAs" magazines are modern specialized titles combining deep study of topics, original creative design and high quality of polygraphy. The purpose of these magazinesisto satisfy the needs of the readership in topical, authentic and full information on meat, dairy and baking industries.

The magazines cover trends andnews of the market, problems of branches, they describe in detail new technologies, components, equipment, interviews with authoritative experts are published, experience is shared for solution by companies of technological and administrative problems.

The titles contain all information which can be required by directors of industry enterprises for decision-making. They include articles on competitors, partnership offers, data on new components, equipment, information on financial, legal and transport services.

Circulation

Circulation of each issue – 5000 copies. Among magazines of dairy and confectionery industries, "Dairy SFERA" and "Confectionery SFERA/BAKERY" have one of the biggest circulations, despite relative "youth" of the titles.

Distribution

Magazines of the Publishing House are international editions which are distributed and are a success in the whole territory of Russia, in the CIS countries and abroad. Unlike the majority of competitive editions, a part of our magazines is distributed free of charge to companies-partners, which include Backaldrin, Institute of food technologies, Agro-3, Schaller.

The basic part of copies of each magazine is mailed to the subscriber list. Our subscribers do not spend efforts in order to receive in due time useful and topical information.

The magazines are also distributed at numerous Russian and international industry exhibitions, seminars and conferences.

Frequency. Magazines are published from 4 to 6 times a year.

Important: many titles sell advertising space on the first cover. In "SFERAS" magazines you can buy anything but the front page. PH "SFERA" does not spare funds for creation of an original cover making the edition stand out and drawing attention thereto. Such cover serves as an original "package" for advertising. In addition, it is evidence of financial stability of the PH. We can afford refusing to sell the first cover, the price for which is usually 2-4 times higher than for the standard page.

In 2010 PH "SFERA" is participating in the largest industry shows – IFFA/Germany, Package/PackItaly, Prodexpo, Dairy industry, Meat industry, World of ice-cream and cold, Interfood, Rosupak/Foodmash, World Food, Refrigerating machinery (participation by correspondence), AGROPRODMASH, Ingredients, Modern bakery and food ingredients, SibProd/SibUpak, Peterfood (on-site participation with a stand). Magazines will be distributed at all these exhibitions. At correspondence participation magazines are issued to visitors of the event at registration. We have reached firm arrangements on distribution of the magazine at workshops and conferences performed by industry associations, unions, consulting companies.
